Imus...The Answer to my own Question

Well, let me preface this by saying the Bill of Rights were created by the founding fathers of this country that sought political freedom from England. During their time, if you spoke badly against the King you were in danger of losing your life. So they wanted to create a society where anyone can say anything without getting prosecuted by the government.

With that being said, free speech is the right of everyone. Imus has the right to say whatever he wants. He will NEVER see any jail time because of it. However, when you work for a company that produces a public good, then you will be judged in the court of public opinion. When you work for a company, you are representing them. So, free speech doesnt protect you. We all operate with a code of conduct that each company expects us to abide by. In the end it was money that spoke the loudest becuase it was the Advertisers that were threatening CBS to pull the plug or they will pull out.

The simple fact is that this society was built on the back of African Slaves, on the land of Native Americans, and is railroads made by Asain Migrants. So, it is about time we check people, ALL people, on the things they say.

The fact that someone could honestly ask this question, shows alot about how they feel about being able to say anything. I would like to know what you all think about this. I havent fully gotten my thoughts together, but I will and then I will answer this question myself. Please let me know what you think.
